If you’ve just finished watching Netflix’s “Outlast” and found yourself confused or disappointed, you’re not alone. While the show sets itself up as a survival competition, some scenes make it seem more like a scripted drama. ” Is Outlast real or fake? Read This article to find out.

Is Netflix’s “Outlast” Fake?

“Outlast” is a survival show with 16 regular people split into teams, where the last team standing wins. The twist? There are almost no rules, so contestants can do whatever it takes to win.

This led to some shady tactics that upset viewers. Many took to social media, accusing the show of being unethical and even calling it fake or scripted. But is it true?

Is Netflix’s “Outlast” Fake? Here’s Why It Feels Staged

Some people think “Outlast” is fake and scripted, but that’s probably not true. Even though the contestants don’t have great survival skills, with some creativity and being prepared, they can still make it.

A scene that raises eyebrows is the Sleeping Bag Heist. In this scene, Alpha team’s Joel and Dawn sneak into Delta’s camp to steal their sleeping bags. Justin from Delta is hiding in a tree nearby, but the weird part is that both teams have camera crews with them. It doesn’t make sense that Joel and Dawn didn’t see Justin right away, especially with the cameras filming everything right outside the camp.

Later, Dawn “destroys” Alpha’s raft, but instead of waiting for Justin to come back, they walk off to check trail cameras. Justin then escapes easily across an open field. The whole thing feels staged, leaving viewers wondering if it’s really real.

Producer’s Response

Executive producer Grant Kahler explained that while it may feel staged, it’s not. The camera crews and editing make things look a bit unnatural. The way things are filmed can sometimes make events seem exaggerated, but that doesn’t mean it was scripted.

This helps explain why the show feels fake to some people, even though it likely isn’t.
