Movie Hub Projector – User Experience

By Nora Nov22,2024

With its bold claims of high-quality projection and affordable price, we will be putting the Movie Hub Projector under the microscope to separate fact from fiction. Is the Movie Hub Projector a real game-changer in home entertainment, or is it a cleverly disguised scam?

In this review, I’ll be sharing my experience with this projector, how it has served me and also help you decide if it is worth buying or not.

What is the Movie Hub Projector

The Movie Hub Projector is a portable, compact, and affordable projector marketed as a “home theater system” that claims to offer high definition 1080p projection, wireless connectivity, and advanced LED light technology for an immersive viewing experience. It is sold for $199.95 after a 60% discount on shopmoviehub.com.

The Movie Hub Projector is advertised as:

  • “Home Theater System”
  • “Portable Cinema”
  • “Wireless Projector”
  • “Compact Entertainment Powerhouse”
  • “Big Screen Experience in a Small Package”
  • “Movie Night Game Changer”
  • “Ultimate Outdoor Movie Projector”
  • “HD Projection Made Easy”
  • “Small but Mighty Projector”

This sounds like the best portable device, but all these are just marketing gimmicks to make the product seem like the best innovation in the market.

How to use the Movie Hub Projector

Setting Up

  • I unboxed and set up the projector
  • Then plugged in the power cord and turned it on
  • I adjusted the focus and keystone settings [projection alignment]

Connect your device:

  • I then connected it to my laptop [I was unable to connect to my tv or iPhone]
  • There are different other options which includes USB, HDMI, or wireless connectivity to connect your phone, tablet, or laptop to the projector
  • Then select the correct input source on the projector

Prepare the projection background:

  • I pinned a big white cloth that was wrinkle free on my wall in order to help the project reflect effectively
  • I also used a blackout shade on my window to minimize external light

Playing Content:

  • Play your desired content (movie, game, presentation, etc.) on your connected device
  • Adjust the projector’s settings as needed (brightness, sound, etc.)

Sharing My Experience using the Movie Hub Projector

My unit came in a damaged box but thankfully the projector was still intact.

Connectivity: I was unable to connect to my phone. And wireless connectivity was also unavailable. I was only to use HDMI on my laptop.

I was also unable to project streaming services like Netflix and Amazon prime due to copyright issues. This wasn’t mentioned anywhere on the website or ads.

Image quality: The images were soft and blurry. The brightness didn’t work with my laptop and only made the picture brighter and not the projection.

Quality: The fan and the power cord are right next to each other, so when the fan/projector heats up, that heat is being blown right next to the power cord. You also can’t project directly upwards unless you have the 90-degree cables and the projector cable was so short it had to be near the socket which affected the overall alignment.

Sound: The sound of the projector is pretty low, so I had to connect to my Bluetooth speaker which was a hassle.

Display: Every once in a while, my display trips off and I can only hear the sound, and I would have to reconnect again. This was a major inconvenience.

Durability: In about a week my movie hub projector started to smell like burning wire and this was bothersome. The sound of the fan also got pretty loud and bothersome.

Refund policy: I unfortunately missed the 30days return window, but I’ve asked for a refund and haven’t gotten a reply yet. Fingers crossed.

Another key point is the fact that this projector only works well in absolute darkness. If there’s any other light source the images look really faint.

The Movie Hub Projector drop-shipping deception

The Movie Hub Projector appears to be a suspicious operation that uses a common scam tactic called drop-shipping or affiliate marketing.

Here’s how it works:

  • They find a cheap, low-quality projector on a website like Temu, Aliexpress, or Amazon.
  • They create a fake website and advertisements that make the projector seem like a high-quality product.
  • They promise big discounts and guarantees to convince people to buy.
  • The projectors are actually the same cheap ones they found online, and they’re selling it for a much higher price (sometimes 10 times the original cost!).

This is a scam because they’re deceptively marketing this product and claiming it does way more than it can and charging way too much for it. They’re also using fake websites and ads to trick people into buying.

What I Wished I Knew Before Buying This Product

Taking a better look into the brand i discovered something that would have changed my mind if i had known about them earlier.

Over-the-Top Marketing Claims: Promises like “Movie Night Game Changer” and “Ultimate Outdoor Movie Projector” are exaggerated and designed to create hype.

Stock Images: Product images on the website appear to be generic or reused from other sites, raising doubts about the product’s authenticity. This is a typical bait-and-switch technique.

Suspiciously Positive Reviews: The website features only glowing reviews with no flaws mentioned, while independent platforms reveal overwhelmingly negative feedback.

False Advertising: The Movie Hub Projector operation employs false advertising tactics, wrongly exaggerating the product’s quality, features, and capabilities, and misrepresenting discounts and promotions to trick customers into buying a low-quality projector at an inflated price.

Poor Product Quality: Reports of dim, blurry projections, and unreliable hardware suggest the projector doesn’t meet basic standards.

Limited contact information: There is limited to no information about the company behind this product. There is only an email address [shopmoviehub.com] and mobile number [+61 498 092 942] but no live-chat option. No listed physical address or company name.

Suspicious behavior: Similar products are listed on other e-commerce stores but with different product names.

Limited online presence: The absence of any social media pages is a huge red flag that should be taken seriously. Every reputable brand has social media accounts as a way to foster long lasting relationships with their clients while promoting sales.

What to do if you already got Scammed

Contact your bank: Contact your bank or credit card company immediately to cancel your card. Request for a chargeback on the grounds of fraud and if unsuccessful, consider requesting arbitration from your credit card issuer to recover your funds. It’s essential to reiterate and resubmit evidence to support your claim, as this can improve your chances of getting refunded.

Check credit reports: Request credit reports to check for any accounts opened fraudulently using your information. Consider placing a credit freeze if advised.

File a complaint: Submit reports about the scam to the FTC, BBB [Better Business Bureau], and other consumer protection sites. You should also provide all relevant records.

Reviews: Leave online reviews and also inform your family and friends to stop other people from falling victim to the same scam.

Alternatives

If you’re looking for good space, it is advisable to stick to trusted brands. Below is a list of verified projectors you can buy instead of the Movie Hub Projector:

Samsung The Freestyle 2nd Gen

LG CineBeam Q

Anker Nebula Cosmos Laser 4K

JMGO N1S Ultra 4K

Conclusion

In conclusion, the Movie Hub Projector appears to be a deceptive advertising scheme that misrepresents the quality, features, and price of a low-quality projector. The website uses exaggerated advertising claims, false promotions, and misleading information to trick customers into buying a product that is not as advertised.
