I came across an ad on TikTok promoting the TopHeater as the best portable and energy-efficient heater for indoor use. Their claims were really suspicious, so I clicked on the ad and was redirected to their website shoptopheat.com where I purchased a unit.
In this review, I’ll be sharing my experience with this heater and giving you reasons why you should not buy this product.
About the website

What is the TopHeat Heater
The TopHeat Heater claims to cut electricity bills by 30% while heating up rooms from top to bottom in less than two minutes.
It is advertised as a portable and affordable heater which does the job of traditional heaters while reducing electricity costs. It claims to use ceramic technology and has an antimicrobial filter.
It is sold for $49,95 on the brands website shoptopheat.com at a 50% discount and up to a 70% discount if you buy five at $39.96 each.
This heater may sound like a great bargain, but it is important to note that details and actual technological facts about this heater are not available anywhere.
How to use TopHeat Heater
Despite the fact that this product didn’t come with a user manual, it is quite easy to use. To use the TopHeat heater, simply:
- Plug it into a standard power outlet in a room of your choice.
- Adjust the temperature setting to your liking. It has three adjustments. The high, medium and low.
- Select your preferred mode.
- Unplug or turn off the socket after use.
Sharing My Experience using the TopHeat Heater
Ater the delayed shipping, my unit came looking and feeling like plastic. The finishing looked inferior as if it was mass produced with no attention to details.
The heating was literally non-existent. After running it at the highest temperature for a couple of hours I did not notice any heat difference in my room despite the brand claiming it warms up rooms in under two minutes.
This product isn’t as quiet as claimed. I couldn’t sleep with its constant whirling noise and had to turn it off at night which defeated my purpose of buying it in the first place.
After a couple days of using, it started having a burning smell and I had to discontinue using it immediately.
How the Scam works
The scammers behind this heater source for cheap and low-quality products from bulk suppliers on platforms like Temu, Aliexpress and even on Amazon, rebrand it, create fascinating contents about the knock off products and spend heavily on making and spreading ads all over social media platforms.
They then create fancy websites and attach links to their ads that leads directly to these websites. where they offer crazy discounts and promises of charge-back if the products are unsatisfactory and then sell these products sometimes for 10x the original cost.
They further fabricate their reviews and then claim endorsements from prominent media outlets all in a bid to manipulate people into buying these products.
These products are not different to the ones sold on Alibaba for $5 dollars per unit.
Reasons To Avoid Buying This Product
False advertisement:
The Heater is a cheap massively produced in China product sold on Alibaba but advertised as a brand-new invention. This product relies heavily on exaggerating its capability in order to manipulate people into buying it.
Deceptive marketing:
Marketed as a product that heats up spaces in seconds, but this outrageous claim has been debunked by independent testers.
False endorsements:
TopHeat claims to be endorsed by a couple of popular media outlets but there’s no evidence to back up these claims. This falsification of claims is rampant among scam websites as it aims to give the victims a false sense of legality and trust.
Generic product images:
Images used on the brands website can be found on other websites and e-commerce stores. This shows that the product isn’t originally theirs to begin with. This is a standard switch-and-bait technique.
Limited contact information:
There is limited to no information about the company behind this product. There is only an email address [email protected] and a mobile number (+354.4212434) but no live-chat option. No listed physical address or company name.
Suspicious behavior:
The heater is not listed available on Amazon or any other prominent e-commerce stores.
Reviews:
Too many positive reviews on their website but none on amazon or any other website points to the fact that these reviews are fabricated.
Despite this website being up and running for over two years there are no reviews on independent sites.
Limited online presence:
The absence of any social media pages is a huge red flag that should be taken seriously. Every reputable brand has social media accounts as a way to foster long lasting relationships with their clients while promoting sales.
What to do if you already got Scammed
Contact your bank:
Contact your bank or credit card company immediately to cancel your card. Request for a chargeback on the grounds of fraud and if unsuccessful, consider requesting arbitration from your credit card issuer to recover your funds. It’s essential to reiterate and resubmit evidence to support your claim, as this can improve your chances of getting refunded.
Check credit reports:
Request credit reports to check for any accounts opened fraudulently using your information. Consider placing a credit freeze if advised.
File a complaint:
Submit reports about the scam to the FTC, BBB [Better Business Bureau], and other consumer protection sites. You should also provide all relevant records.
Reviews:
Leave online reviews and also inform your family and friends to stop other people from falling victim to the same scam.
