The viral story about Teresa Fidalgo is fake. This story has been circulating online for years claiming that Teresa Fidalgo, a 17-year-old Portuguese girl was decapitated in a car accident in 1983.

However, despite its popularity, there’s no concrete evidence to confirm its authenticity.

Portuguese authorities, media outlets, and historical organizations have not verified the existence of Teresa Fidalgo or the alleged accident.

As the story of Teresa Fidalgo has been shared and retold, it has been exaggerated and distorted, making it difficult to separate fact from fiction.

The Origin of the Teresa Fidalgo Story

The story of Teresa Fidalgo’s alleged decapitation in a car accident spread from online forums and social media platforms. Despite its popularity, the exact origin of the story remains unclear.

The only possible modern origin of this story that we could find was from a Portuguese online forum in 2008. The post claimed that a 17-year-old girl named Teresa Fidalgo had died in a car accident and attached to the story was a disturbing photo that was supposed to be aftermath of the accident.

However, upon further research, we have failed to any evidence to actually back up the post and claim that Teresa Fidalgo ever existed or died in a car accident. There has been no news report, no police evidence or even any hospital documents since 1983 to back up this story.

At this point, it’s possible that this story is made up of a pure work of fiction and a means of entertainment or to get clicks online in this day. The story has however spread so far with several embellishments making it difficult to actually tell what the original story was.

Now, the story of Teresa Fidalgo remains popular, with many people continuing to share the story and image online, often without realizing its fabricated origins.
