I Bought Chargex Charger: My Honest Review of This Mini Powerbank

By Samantha May31,2024

Few weeks back I was watching a video on YouTube when an Ad for Chargex phone charger came up. The charger was like nothing I had seen; mini, portable, and wireless. I was hooked, honestly.

Curious, I decided to search online for reviews about it but found out absolutely nothing, aside from a thread on Quora which led to a Chargex charger review. However, the charger being reviewed was different from what I saw on YouTube and it was an old post (2022). Anyways, I decided to take the risk and buy the charger from the website currently selling it ‘Chargex.store’.

Chargex Charger Review

The ChargeX mini powerbank comes with a USB C or iPhone port depending on the one you chose. As a Samsung and iPhone 14 user, I ordered for two – the USB C port and the iPhone port, white and black. When it arrived (three weeks later), I was instantly pleased with its portability. It is convenient, looks sleek, and saves me the stress of going around with a charging cord.

When charging my iPhone 14 which has a big battery capacity, the fully charged Chargex has gotten my phone from 15%-10% to 75%-80%. While for my Samsung S21 plus, it takes a longer time to charge. After about 10/15 mins I check my phone and my charge has only moved from 45 to 55 yet the battery on the charger now says its down to 60% full.

What I don’t like is how a fully charged Chargex is unable to charge my devices to full capacity. I haven’t been able to use it more than once after a full charge. It’s advertised as having 5000mah which I doubt.

I do think there isn’t much value to this. It is unreliable for travel so I am just keeping it in my desk in case my phone needs a quick boost while using my iPhone. The concept is great – no cords to hold angle with and using your phone on the go while charging – but the design is simply not well thought. It sticks out too far so you can’t lay your phone down flat while the charger is plugged in, and any movement causes it to bend out of place.

Pros

  • Easy to use
  • Convenient
  • Portable –  it is great for work or when running errands.

Cons

  • Doesn’t fully charge a device from 0 – 100 even when it’s fully charged.
  • it is not durable. One broke from a short fall and can no longer be used.
  • It’s overpriced. It is actually sold for $16 on Amazon.com and $5 on Alibaba.com. (see image below) Whereas chargex.store sells theirs for $26. The profit margin for a $5 product shows the seller is quite greedy!

My Opinion

The Chargex phone charger is a great deal when bought on AliExpress.com or Alibaba.com for $5- $7. Buying this mini powerbank for $26 isn’t a valuable purchase. The Chargex charger can’t fully charge devices on a full charge, it isn’t durable (breaks down and stops working easily).
