Exposing the $1,400 Health Subsidy Text Scam

By maria Aug26,2024

Did you come across the $1,400 Health Subsidy text message? it claims you are eligible to receive a government grant of $1,400 but it’s a scam. We’ve come across similar scams in 2024 claiming to offer American citizens health benefits, this article exposes the details of this scam.

Is $1,400 Health Subsidy Real Or Fake

It is fake. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has issued a warning about advertisements that falsely claim you are eligible to receive a $1,400 health subsidy. If you click on these ads, you may be redirected to suspicious websites, such as “USA-reliefs.org,” which, despite appearing outdated and untrustworthy, remains active.

What is particularly concerning is that many of these ads seem to originate from individuals outside the United States. These scammers make exaggerated claims, suggesting that you can easily qualify for the $1,400 subsidy, similar to the purported $6,400 health subsidy grant, in just 30 seconds. They often create a false sense of urgency by implying that the deadline to apply is imminent.

Red Flags To Watch Out For

  1. Mismatched Website: If the web address in the ad doesn’t match the actual website, that’s a big red flag. It’s like they’re trying to trick you.
  2. Bad Writing and Urgency: If the ad has really poorly written stuff and pushes you to act super fast, it feels fishy. They want you to rush without thinking.
  3. Social Media Outreach: The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) says they’ll never hit you up on social media about grants. If they’re doing that, something’s not right.

What To Do If You Have Been Scammed

Cancel your credit card

Immediately call your financial provider and cancel your credit card. By so doing, the credit card details you used for your transaction would become null and void.

Request for a new card

After the old credit card has been canceled, ask for a new card, it doesn’t cost much to get one. Your credit card issuer will issue you a new one with different numbers.

Report the Fraud To Relevant Authorities

Report the scam to relevant authorities and organizations. This includes:

  • Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3): If you are in the United States, you can file a complaint with the IC3 at https://www.ic3.gov/.
  • Your Local Consumer Protection Agency: Contact your local consumer protection agency or the equivalent regulatory body in your country.
  • Better Business Bureau (BBB): File a complaint with the BBB if the online store is based in the United States.
