GRAND PATIO Outdoor Royal Rocking Chair for $29? Home Nest Shop advertises very cheap items on social media. Are the deals legit or a scam? Here’s what our fraud investigator discovered;

What is Homenestshop.com?
‘Home Nest Shop’ fronts itself as an online store based in the US. Its product inventories include – furniture, kitchen wares, toys, e.t.c. These items are sold for more than 70% discount price which flags a warning bell.
Investigation revealed the alarming loopholes on the website;
- No solid details about the company or its operations (absence of a business address, the owner hides their details behind proxy services, etc.)
- Offers unrealistic low prices not found elsewhere
- No reviews from customers to vouch for the website’s reputation
- No contact us details
Is Home Nest Shop Legit? Why I Think It’s a Scam
There are many reasons why this website raises legitimacy concerns. Firstly, the low price offered is unrealistic and can’t be found elsewhere. A patio of that size can’t be sold for $29, it’s below manufacturing prize, and even shipping price.
Secondly, homenestshop.com itself has lots of loopholes that indicate it isn’t a serious online store. No solid details about the company or its operations (absence of a business address, the owner hides their details behind proxy services, etc.)
Thirdly, the content on the site is generic. I checked online using a plagiarism checker tool and the result was shocking; same About US, Refund Policy, Privacy, and even website homepage design is being used by suspicious online stores. The result indicates Home Nest Shop is among a large chain of fraudulent websites posing as legit online stores.
Data from Who.is also showed that the website was registered barely few weeks ago; early March 2025. As a general rule, newly launched websites are considered unsafe till they hit a 6 months mark indicating reputation.
How Does This Online Shopping Scam Work?
Though I didn’t shop from homenestshop.com, being a Fraud Investigator I’ve observed how fraudulent websites like this one work. Here’s a breakdown of the scam –
They offer extremely low prices on high-demand products, making it an unbeatable deal. The scam starts with social media ads or through flashy online pop-ups, which display huge discounts or “limited-time offers” that push you to buy immediately.
To make the sale feel even more urgent, the website includes a countdown timer, claiming that the sale ends in hours or minutes. This pressure tactic plays on the fear of missing out (FOMO), tricking customers into buying quickly without doing enough research.
Once you make a purchase, the product never arrives, or you’ll receive subpar or counterfeit goods that don’t match what was advertised.
The cons outweigh the pros of shopping from the website. Aside from not receiving your order, your credit card details could be stolen, hence leading to unauthorized credit card charges.
Can You Get a Refund If You Used PayPal?
Getting a refund is almost impossible even if you used PayPal. There’s a current loophole in the system that scammers exploit which PayPal has been unable to clamp down on. Here’s how scammers exploit the PayPal system –
- Send a fake tracking code to you (which contains an address close to yours.
- Claim the item has been delivered
- Send PayPal a delivery proof which contains your area address (area code)
With this, PayPal believes the items have been delivered and when file a complaint it’s impossible to get a refund as PayPal sees it as a completed purchase
What To Do If Homenestshop.com Scammed You
Cancel your credit card
Immediately call your financial provider and cancel your credit card. By so doing, the credit card details you used for your transaction would become null and there wouldn’t be any unauthorized credit card charges.
Request for a new card
After the old credit card has been canceled, ask for a new card, it doesn’t cost much to get one. Your credit card issuer will issue you a new one with different numbers.
Report
Report the scam to relevant authorities and organizations. This includes:
- Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3): If you are in the United States, you can file a complaint with the IC3 at https://www.ic3.gov/.
- Your Local Consumer Protection Agency: Contact your local consumer protection agency or the equivalent regulatory body in your country.
- Better Business Bureau (BBB): File a complaint with the BBB if the online store is based in the United States.
Shop Smarter Online Using These Tips;
This is how I am able to spot scam websites and avoid being a victim of online shopping scams.
Having experienced the ugliness of online shopping scams, here’s how to avoid being a victim in the future;
- Search for reviews before placing an order. If there are no reviews online about the website, you need to proceed cautiously.
- Be skeptical of very low prices, especially Ads on social media offering huge discounts on sought-after products.
- Be wary of Poor design – Fake websites often have poor design, bad grammar, and low-quality images. If you notice any of these on a website, then it’s better to do proper research before going ahead.
- Check the store’s Contact Us page – is there a business address available? If yes, does it really exist or does a different business come up on Google when you search for the address?
- Find out if the website is secured with SSL encryption. (https and padlock symbols). Legitimate websites often use “https” (hypertext transfer protocol secure) in their URL. If the padlock symbol doesn’t appear near the website’s URL, then it means your personal and financial information is at risk at the store.
