A poster has gone viral on every social media platform claiming that the Christmas vacation sequel named Christmas vacation redux will be coming out soon.
However, the news is fake as the said poster is of a TV commercial of an electric car and not the supposed Christmas vacation redux movie.
Why Its Fake
The original post started from an account on Facebook named YODA BBY ABY and has written on its bio:
I’m just here to eat frogs, lift rocks and be satirical. The page is 100% satire and fake news.
which indeed means that the post is fake. The page in question makes up stories for clicks, likes and shares and often relies on the help of AI to make some seemingly real-life photos.
However, the photo gained a life of its own as it spread across other social media platforms and in the absence of the bio, it is indeed fair to actually mistake it for being real.
Snopes has made posts on similar fake stories about our favorite movies coming out in the past like the one about A polar Express Sequel and Elf 2 starring Peter Dinklage and Will Ferrell.
And it is quite unsurprising that all three post that spread like wildfire started on the same page YODA BBY ABY.
We all hope that Chevy Chase will decide to bring the gang together one day and actually give us the Christmas Redux movie but until then, we wait.
