The picture of the Lavender Lemonade Sprite is fake, not real! Don’t let the picture making rounds online trick you. It’s an AI generated image, not a real new Sprite flavor from Coca-Cola. The picture was first posted on Facebook by Yoshira Evans and has been shared more than 30,000 times since then.
Why It’s Fake
A close look at the image show a lot of inconsistencies peculiar with AI generated images.
First of all, the image looks a little too perfect. AI images often lack details that can be found in real pictures, leading to these photos having an ‘airbrushed’ look.
Secondly, on real Sprite cans, the word ‘Sprite’ is written in slanted form, not just in the middle of the body. .
Thirdly, the image wasn’t posted (and hasn’t been posted) on Sprite’s social media pages, neither has the brand said anything about a new flavor.
Also, Lavender is commonly associated with perfumes and flowers, not food or drinks. The idea of drinking lavender flavor seems unusual and not very appealing.
The Truth About The Sprite Lavender Lemonade
Similar to the Sprite Watermelon Burberry we debunked earlier, The Lavender Lemonade Sprite is a fake news that started after a Facebook user posted an image generated with AI. She created the image due to her love for Sprite Lemon drink. The post went viral and has been shared on different social media platforms; Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Tiktok, e.t.c
While a lot of people are excited about the idea, Coca-Cola hasn’t announced any new Sprite flavor.
