The picture of the Sprite Watermelon Blueberry is fake, not real! Don’t let the picture making rounds online trick you. It’s an AI generated image, not a real new Sprite flavor from Coca-Cola. The picture was first posted on Facebook by MoMo Nichol and has been shared more than 32,000 times since then.
Why It’s Fake
A close look at the image show a lot of inconsistencies peculiar with AI generated images.
First of all, a close look at the words written on the can’s body shows the word ‘blueberry’ was mispelt as ‘bluebberry’ (double B). This mistake is pretty obvious and can’t be neglected by a reputable brand like Coca-Cola.
Secondly, Coca-Cola wouldn’t use a background picture that shows there’s sugar in the drink. The pink sugar is a thumbs down as it might trigger trolls from anti-soda groups.
Thirdly, the image wasn’t posted (and hasn’t been posted) on Sprite’s social media pages, neither has the brand said anything about a new flavor.
