Advertised as a Top-Rated Lightweight Foldable Drone, the Black Falcon 4k Drone has lots of promotional reviews, especially on established blogs like Mid-day, Outlook India, and the likes which claim it’s the best affordable drone for beginners and experts. Is it worth the hype? I detailed everything about this drone, its spec, battery life, camera, features, handling, etc.
Overview Of Black Falcon 4k Drone
Sold on blackbird.com for $5000 plus, the manufactures of Black Falcon 4k Drone claims this drone offers ”HD Camera, Extended Battery Life, Lightweight and Portable, operates Silently, Anti-Collision Technology”.
What initially drew me to purchase this drone was its promise of 4K resolution. It’s uncommon to find an affordable drone that offers all the features that Black Bird claims to provide. However this machine is exactly like the It’s a rebranded Eachine58 with 7-9 mins battery life, 720p resolution and lacks a GPS. It’s a cheap drone sold for high price. This exact drone cost below $40 on AliExpress.
Observations During Testing
- Camera Quality: The camera is actually 720p resolution, not 4K as advertised. The footage quality is far from the high-definition video that was promised. The frame rate is also lacking, which can result in a choppy first-person view on your smartphone unless you’re flying at very slow speeds.
- Controller Usability: The controller is user-friendly, featuring buttons for different flight modes, including a 360-degree flip. However, the drone lacks GPS and instead relies on air pressure to maintain altitude.
- Flight Stability: The drone does fly quite steadily for its price point, as the advertisements claimed. Despite this, the misleading claims about a 4K camera are disappointing.
- Battery Life: The flight time is around 7-9 minutes, which is decent but not exceptional.
Pros
- It is cheap compared to other drones.
- It’s small and folds up, so you can take it anywhere.
Cons
- The camera quality isn’t up to 4k
- Its advertisement use a fake background story
- The footage used on the Ads is from a dji mavic air and not the Black Falcon 4k Drone itself.
- Has a short flying time.
- It doesn’t have GPS, so it can’t stay perfectly in one spot.
Is Black Falcon 4k Drone A Scam
From my experience and that of other users, the Black Falcon 4k Drone is certainly a scam purchase. The product does not really work as advertised and the company makes use of misleading advertisement and ship cheap chinese knock off low quality drone.
It’s really disappointing that well-known blogs are being used to trick unsuspecting buyers. It’s a shame that Google doesn’t do anything about these sites that use SEO and high rankings to appear at the top of search results, only to mislead people with sponsored content for shady products.
