Did you receive an email from Shades of Light about an order confirmation? Is it for an item you bought long time ago? Well, you’re not alone. Lots of old and new customers have received the surprising email from Shades of Light and are wondering if it is a scam or if the interior decor company has been hacked.
Well, it’s not a scam, neither has the company been hacked. For one, the email is from the legit email address which ends in @shadesoflight.com. Secondly, the telephone number mentioned in the email is the correct Shades of Light customer care number.
So, if it isn’t a scam, and if Shades of Light wasn’t hacked why the hell are they sending customers an order confirmation email for items purchased a long while ago?
The company addresses the question on Facebook. Here’s what they’ve to say;
To Our Valued Customers – While performing an update to our email system today we inadvertently sent you an ‘Order Confirmation’ email. Please rest assured that this email does not reflect any change or unauthorized activity on your account. We are sorry this occurred. Please accept our apologies for any confusion this may have caused you.
We are working diligently to respond to all calls and messages. Thank you for bearing with us!
Respectfully,
The Shades of Light Team
They’ve also sent out a bunch of email to customers, assuring them the previous email was a mistake. (see image below) However, in an attempt to respond quickly, they sent an email with an image that did not load for some customers.
How To Protect Yourself
While Shades of Light has cleared the air about the mystery order confirmation email, you need to protect yourself by doing the following;
- Check your card statement to see if there’s any recent charges from Shades of Light
- Lock your credit card for the time being
- Closely monitor your statement of account and daily transactions for any suspicious activities
