The Zevo Bug Catcher has gained a lot of attention online for its ability to attract and capture flying insects using blue light. But does it really live up to the bold claims and positive customer reviews? If you’re curious about its effectiveness and want to know if this product is as good as advertised, read on to find out.
Overview Of The Zevo Bug Trap
The Zevo Bug Trap is made to catch flying insects like house flies, fruit flies, bugs, gnats and moths. The starter kit usually comes with a trap device and a few attractant cartridges. It is sold for $19 on Amazon
How does it work
The trap uses a mix of light and scent to lure insects in, where they get stuck on a sticky surface.
Testing
We had a lot of flying insects in our home, especially fruit flies, so we came across YouTube videos of this bug catcher and decided to buy from Amazon and install it. We also identified and eliminated one potential source of insects and thoroughly cleaned and vacuumed the armchair where we saw most of the insects. After a few days, there were no more bugs, and they have not returned for a week since we saw the last one.
Does The Zevo Bug Catcher Catch Flies
Yes it works, it’s better at night than during the day, and it will take many days to get rid of an infestation, but it will eventually get rid of everything. It works better if it’s plugged into an outlet close to your kitchen trash can than in a bathroom. It works better for fruit flies than house flies.
Pros
- Works to catch flying insects
- Has a simple set up
- The blue light attracts insects
Cons
- The filters are expensive
- It takes a while to trap bugs
- Attracts more flies than it kills
- Does not work for mosquitoes
What Customers Are Saying
There are many customer reviews online, particularly on Amazon and Reddit, and most are positive about this bug catcher. Some customer complaints online said that the Zevo Bug Catcher didn’t work as well as they hoped and that it costs more than other similar products. Here’s one:
I have this berry tree in my front yard that attracts flies in the summer when the berries start to drop. We have a screen net and keep the doors shut but the flies always find their way in. I have two of these and within a day, no more flies! They get stuck NO ISSUE and these are not your small household flies! THEY ARE MASSIVE. The Zevo brand is pricey but well worth it! I’ve researched the replacements and while those are on the pricey side too, for the summer at least, I’ll be sticking with the name brand
Review of Zevo Bug Catcher
The Zevo bug catcher isn’t a miracle worker, The blue light is quite powerful once the room lights are off. While it doesn’t catch every little fruit fly, it does catch some. There’s no smell, mess, or fuss with this however, the stickiness could be a bit stronger, but it’s worth trying. It helps with files infestation but isn’t one hundred percent perfect.
